A 45-year-old Pakenham man has been charged after ramming an elderly woman with a car at the Pakenham Central Marketplace carpark in July earlier this year.
The victim, a 75-year-old Pakenham woman, was loading shopping into her car on Sunday 29 July when the offender reversed out of a car park and into the woman, pinning her up against her vehicle.
Police say the offender then continued spinning his wheels, pushing the victim’s car into the next parking bay.
He then attempted to accelerate and struck another vehicle, becoming stuck. Onlookers then intervened, preventing the offender from leaving his vehicle by removing the keys from the ignition while an off-duty doctor assisted the elderly victim.
The driver was arrested and taken to Pakenham Police Station where he was interviewed and released pending summons.
He has now been charged on summons for criminal and traffic related offences and is due to appear in court at a later date.
It’s believed the victim, who suffered a laceration to the head and multiple fractures in her ankle, has only just recovered from the traumatic event.
