Bad news for readers

CARDINIA Shire has refused an application from an Emerald newsagent to build a permanent structure at the front of the shop to allow for the drop off of newspapers and magazines.
Council officers found that a key issue of the application was its non-compliance with the shire’s footpath trading code, that does not allow anything to be placed 1.5 metres from property walls.
It was also found that the proposed structure was not consistent with the existing character of the township.
