Planning knockback:

CARDINIA Shire councillors have voted to refuse a permit to build two additional houses at a property in Lyle Avenue, Beaconsfield.
Councillor Brett Owen said the proposal to build two additional houses on the property was “totally out of character of the existing neighbourhood”.
“I accept this area is becoming a single or double dwelling on the one property area,” he said.
“But this is totally out of whack with the existing area.”
Cr Owen said he would have no problem approving a permit on the same site if only two houses were included.
“Three is too much,” he said.
His colleague Collin Ross agreed.
“There is very little space,” he said.
“I think if we approved this we would have been overdeveloping the site.”
