Pledge time at bank launch

THE prospectus for the proposed Lakeside Pakenham Community Bank branch will be launched next week.
Shares in the bank will be available to those who have already pledged and to anyone else who wants a part ownership in the bank at the Tuesday 23 March launch.
Bank director Di Padgett said the night would be a chance for the community to come along and get involved.
“People can come along bring your cheque books, honour those pledges and find out why this is so exciting,” she said.
“This is where the bank really kicks off.”
Ms Padgett said the bank will be able to open once it has enough shareholders.
“Other community banks have seen locals wishing they had become shareholders. This is your chance.
“And it’s a lovely legacy to for your children or grandchildren to become a shareholder.
“Banking with a community bank ensures that through doing your everyday business or personal banking, the profits go back directly to the community unlike the other four big banks,” she said.
“It’s that difference we celebrate.”
The prospectus launch will be held on Tuesday 23 March at 6.30pm at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
Bookings can be made by contacting David Impey on 0402 631 116 or Bernie Wilson on 0418 389 213.
