Smooth road for Bunyip

By Melissa Meehan
BUNYIP residents and business owners are looking forward to much-needed roadworks in their town starting.
Works on George and Mary streets are expected to begin soon as part of a Special Charge Scheme program, with the project being jointly funded by the Cardinia Shire Council and residents.
Works on the streets will include the introduction of pavement, kerb and channel and associated drainage works.
Councillor Bill Pearson said once the works were finished, it would be beautiful.
“Drainage has always been a real problem around here,” Cr Pearson said.
“You could say it has been my swansong for some time – it’s going to be beautiful.”
Resident and Bendigo Bank employee Sue Dubbeld agreed along with Bunyip Bakery’s Rob Melis who said works on the street were overdue.
