Back from the brink

THE BUNYIP show returned after a two-year break over the weekend, with more than 1000 people taking part in festivities.
Numbers were good, despite the show being held over the Easter weekend, something president Sean McLeish said would happen every three to four years.
“It wasn’t too bad,” Mr McLeish said.
“Entries were down, as expected. But people showing up on the day boosted numbers a little bit.”
Mr McLeish said all things considered, the day was a success.
“We are back after two years off, and to start again on the Easter weekend, we didn’t do too badly,” he said.
Most popular events included dogs and horses, and while entries were down the standard of previous years continued.
Mr McLeish said the committee was already starting to make plans for next year.
“We don’t clash with Easter, so that’s a good thing.”
