Author spreads a little of her magic

LITERACY legend Mem Fox paid a visit to Pakenham as part of Rotary’s Literacy Week.
Ms Fox, who is well known for her books Possum Magic and Koala Lou, is a celebrated author and educator.
Past District Governor Graeme Begg, who enticed Ms Fox to visit the town, said she enthralled an audience of more than 200 teachers, childcare workers, parents and grandparents from as far away as Trafalgar.
“Her emphasis for the evening was the importance of reading aloud to children as often as possible and from as early an age as possible,” he said.
