Walking for a cause

FOUR PAKENHAM locals will walk 100 kilometres in 48 hours for charity.
“Custard Squizz” will start their journey in the early hours of Friday 16 April.
The team. consisting of four Pakenham locals – Phillip Butler, Anthony Beckett, Lauren Wood – and Carina Venturi – will participate in the Oxfam Trailwalker 100km Challenge.
Oxfam Trailwalker is the world’s greatest team challenge.
And it’s also one of the toughest.
The challenge is to complete 100kms in 48 hours as a team of four – starting together, sticking together and finishing together.
The money raised will be used to support ongoing aid and development work in 28 countries, including indigenous Australia.
The walk will begin at Jells Park in Wheelers Hill and progress through three different national parks before finishing at Wesburn Park in the Yarra Valley. The trail covers a diverse range of terrain including the Corhanwarrabul Wetlands, Churchill National Park, scenic Lysterfield Lake, the Dandenong Ranges, the O’Shannassy Aqueduct trail and the Warburton Trail, culminating in a tough climb over Mount Little Joe in the Yarra Valley.
