McKennas together

ANZAC Day provided the perfect time for a reunion of two long-time local families in 2010.
The McKenna family reunion was organised by Margie and Mick, of the same last name at Jells Park on 25 April.
The five children of Bob and Edna McKenna, from Nar Nar Goon as well as the 12 children of Jack and Eily McKenna from Longwarry attended.
Margie said the day was a huge success.
“Both Bob and Jack were orphaned when they were five and seven years old respectively, but made their way back to the area to bring up their families,” she said.
“Both men played footy for their towns and so did their children.”
She said during the reunion many memories were shared and while some still lived close by, others had spread across Melbourne.
“Some of us were too young to remember one another, but a great day was had by young and old,” she said.
