POLICE are on the lookout for the driver of a damaged Hyundai Excel sedan, believed to be involved in a hit and run in Berwick.
Cyclist Antony Bishop was travelling along Harkaway Road at 2.10pm on Monday 24 May when he was struck from behind by a car.
Police said the 46-year-old was thrown into the guard rail, suffering a number of serious injuries.
The driver of the car didn’t stop.
Mr Bishop was taken to The Alfred hospital where he was treated for three fractured vertebrae, four broken ribs and had surgery on his left ankle.
Police say they have made further progress in identifying the driver of the 1996 to 2000 model Hyundai Excel sedan.
Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch from the Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) wants anyone who may have seen the damaged car to call police.
“We are hoping the driver will do the right thing and come forward to police,” he said.
“We believe the car has possible damage to its front left-hand side and is also missing its left-hand side mirror.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch at the Casey Traffic Management Unit on 5941 0600.
