THREE local grand final teams cleaned up over the weekend at Casey Fields.
Pakenham, Beaconsfield and Berwick won eight premierships from 20 grand finals as a collective suggesting its junior football stocks are brimming with talent for years to come.
In front of about 8000 spectators that attended one the regions biggest sporting events, Pakenham and Berwick scored three premierships while Beaconsfield collected two flags.
Pakenham’s under-12s (Div. 1) finished first during the season and defeated Narre Warren by 30 points keeping it scoreless.
The under-11s (Div. 3) defeated Tooradin, which was involved in its first grand final for 13 years.
The under-10s won a close one against Cranbourne by four points against Cranbourne after completing the season in first place with 12 wins and one loss.
Pakenham junior football club president Steve Maloney was ecstatic with the results.
“It was fantastic to win as many as we did, but really the results are irrelevant, the fact that the kids are out there playing is terrific,” he said.
“The kids got to run a lap of honour with their flags before the seniors match, which was a nice touch.”
Berwick’s under-14s (Div. 1) defeated Narre Warren by 35 points in their final after finishing their season undefeated. It under-14s (Div. 3) defeated Cranbourne by seven points after finishing in first place (11-2).
The under-13s (Div. 3) came from third place on the ladder with eight wins to beat Narre Warren by 20 points.
Beaconsfield’s two premierships came from its under-13s (Div. 1) team that finished second during the season (10-4) and beat Berwick by five points.
The under-11s (Div. 2) also finished in first place during the season and defeated Berwick by 28 points, keeping it scoreless.
