Probus on the go

IT WAS another busy month for the Probus Club of Pakenham East.
As usual the Card Playing group of 10 members met at the Homegarth Community Centre for their very successful monthly meeting.
Seven members of the photographic group set themselves a subject — Blossom and Wattle – that could be entered into a competition, held on the later general monthly meeting.
The Craft Group (comprising seven members) met at a member’s residence.
Following the monthly committee meeting 10 members had lunch at the Pakenham Hotel.
The largest group of 15 went to the Drum Theatre to hear Rachael Beck, a singer, who gave a very good programme.
The regular monthly meeting was attended by 86 members and two visitors, nine of whom celebrated birthdays during the month of August.
The door prize was won by Judy Board. The photographic winners were Marlene Knaap (2 photos) and Roel Knaap (1).
The speaker, Danielle Kruger from the Shire of Cardinia, gave a very enlightening talk on her role in “Positive Ageing”. The vote of thanks was given by Barry Hodge and later 12 members retired to the Pakenham Hotel for lunch.
Fourteen members of the Pakenham Putters had a round of golf at the Pakenham Golf Course.
The Gardening Group had a day out at Linton’s Nursery at Mount Eliza.
