Good time girl flunks out

FROM the outset Easy A seems like any other teen movie.
Seemingly unpopular and invisible teenager Olive (Emma Stone), becomes one of the most talked about girls in school.
She soon learns being “popular” is not all it is cracked up to be and that one white lie about her promiscuity, overheard by “Jesus-Freak” Mariann (Amanda Bynes) has snowballed into idle gossip and makes for a couple of laughs along the way.
The rumour mill goes into overdrive and instead of fighting against it, Olive takes it upon herself to “give the people what they want” sewing a red A on her sexually inspired clothing.
With this new-found street cred, Olive realises she can help other “invisible” students, like gay friend Brandon and make some serious money along the way, but with all her so-called charity, she realises she may have got herself in way too deep.
Her parents also provide a few chuckles as her dad describes her new look as something of a “high end hooker – something for athletes and congressmen”.
While Emma Stone plays the role to a tee, the transformation of her character from ugly duckling to sex kitten never happens. Maybe she never was an ugly duckling?
This modern take on the Scarlet Letter failed to hit the mark, making it more of an Easy “C” grade than what its title would suggest.
