It’s in black and white

NARRE Warren’s fourth premiership in five seasons sparked an incredible outpouring of emotions at Edwin Flack Reserve and BRAD ‘Tangles’ KINGSBURY was right in the middle of it.

BRETT ‘Birdman’ EVANS (Narre Warren veteran)
This is the sweetest by far mate. Three weeks ago we were 100-1 to get in to the grand final, let alone win it.

BEN AIRDRIE (Beaconsfield match committee)
We were second to the footy all day and we were just flat. We might have played our grand final against Cranbourne. We just couldn’t get our game together.

MATT SHINNERS (Narre Warren coach)
I would have liked to have kicked straighter Tangles! We made some tough decisions at selection but, to the boys’ credit, they deserved to be there and this repays all their hard work.

CAMERON STEWART (Former Narre Warren coach)
You can’t get much better than that really Tangles. They brought the same effort and intensity from last week into today’s game and ‘Skiddsy’ and ‘Rooey’ go out on a high, so you couldn’t ask for more.

TERRY LOCK (Beaconsfield vice-president)
They were just better than us. They were more committed and they came through. We were flat-footed today.

GLENN HAMILTON (injured Narre Warren captain)
It is a little bit bittersweet Tang, but I’m just rapt for the guys and the club. Three weeks ago, it was the worst performance we had put in for the year but today we went out and did a Collingwood – chased in numbers, put our heads over the ball and applied pressure.

KIM McGILL (Narre Warren president)
Walking out of ROC five weeks ago, I never thought we’d be here. The kids have just run, run, run and ‘Skidda’ played the most magnificent game in the backline. What can I say – it’s just sensational.

MIKE JAREMCUCK (senior field umpire)
It was exhilarating. It was my first senior grand final. I thought both sides kept going at it all day and the standard of footy was fantastic. It was played in great spirit and I think the better side on the day won.
PAUL POTALEJ (Narre Warren Team Manager)
I’m ecstatic but it hasn’t sunk in yet. I was very emotional during the seconds game, because my son (Chris) played in that but my heart has been with the seniors all year and I’m feeling warm and tingly and I’m rapt.

BEN COLLINS (Beaconsfield Assistant Coach)
It’s one that got away for sure. Well done to Narre on the way they played, but we were under pressure and I can’t explain why we were so down in a game like this.

ROD WILSHIRE (MPNFL director)
It was a very good day with a very good crowd that was up on last year. The ground held up well, it was a good game and Narre Warren deserved their win after what they’ve done over the last few weeks.

AARON BARLOW (Narre Warren ruckman who played only the last two games for the year)
When I got the call up (last week), I thought ‘gee I’m in trouble here’ but it worked out. This week against Kelfy I just tried my best and I suppose I was in the right place at the right time.
