Park pass a winner

EMERALD Lake Park is set to bloom this spring with its million dollar makeover almost complete and discounted annual parking passes available.
The $10 annual parking pass, one per household, has been sent out to residents with rates notices and has a saving of more than 70 per cent off the regular annual parking fee of $40.
Residents can start using their pass in these school holidays and check out the parks upgrade and activities.
External works on the Emerald Lake Park environment centre are complete and the $60,000 vegetation management plan for the park has been implemented with significant weed removal.
Bridge works, signage, walking track upgrades and installation of a new pergola for music performance have happened.
Visitors to the park can enjoy Puffing Billy, model railway, paddleboats, cafe, barbeques and walking tracks.
The lake has also been restocked with fish, so keen anglers can catch a trout or two. Last year, council was successful in receiving a $500,000 grant from the Federal Government through the Better Regions Funding program. Cardinia Shire Council matched the grant with an additional $500,000.
