FOUR people were injured in a crash in Kooweerup on Wednesday.
Leading Senior Constable Bill Riess from Kooweerup police said two motorcyclists collided with a car at the South Gippsland Highway and Rossiter Road intersection at 12.10pm.
“The car was being driven by an 80-year-old man from Swan Reach.
Intensive care paramedic Lindsay Bent said there was considerable damage to the front of the car, including the windscreen.
“It’s believed both motorcyclists collided with the front of the car and they were thrown from their bikes,” Mr Bent said.
“A 41-year-old rider was briefly knocked unconscious and there was damage to his helmet.
“Despite his full leather protection gear, this man was in a serious condition.
“He suffered extensive head injuries, breaks to one arm, a significant fracture to his pelvis and internal bleeding.”
The second motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man, was also taken to The Alfred hospital. He had pain to a hip and ankle, but was in a stable condition.
The male driver was taken to Dandenong Hospital with cuts to his face. His wife, also 80, was in shock and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police are investigating the crash.
