Good ring is a ‘good thing’

ONE of the biggest sponsor deals has just been penned.
Pakenham Racing Club has secured a major partnership deal with Main Street’s Telstra store – and that will be the name for Pakenham’s richest race.
Pakenham Racing Club chairman Don Duffy said the club was excited about the partnership.
“It is a truly significant partnership with not only Pakenham’s leading telecommunications supplier, but one of Australia’s largest listed companies,” Mr Duffy said.
“We are already in the process of planning a week-long festival around the Pakenham Telstra Store Cup … and we are expecting it to be our biggest day yet.”
The $100,000 open class race will become Pakenham’s flagship race day. It will take place on 6 March. Pakenham Telstra store and business centre managing director, Ash Rady, said the sponsorship was a great way to get involved in the Cardinia Shire community, as well as a significant alignment with horse racing.
“We are very proud to be throwing our support behind one of the Cardinia Shire’s longest running and largest events,” he said.
The Pakenham Telstra store has entered into a 12-month deal with the Racing Club and the high profile announcement is another leap forward for the racing club after recently gaining approvals for their relocation to what will be a purpose built world-class racing facility at Nar Nar Goon.
The Telstra store will host a marquee during tomorrow’s Pakenham Oaks Day meeting, with the first of seven races starting at 12.52pm.
