Murder she wrote – in Grade 6

Paris Barrie-Moore took a liking to Shakespeare and has now also read The Tempest.
But Macbeth is her favourite Shakespeare play – because it has murder in it.
“I like it (Shakespeare) because it’s different and not like all the other books for kids,” Paris said.
Now regularly writing fiction stories, the 12-year-old has written about 14 stories this year and dreams of writing a novel one day.
Paris says she has always like writing and is particularly fond of fiction because it doesn’t have to have “real facts” so she can do what she likes with the story.
Three of her stories have been featured in the school newsletter and a story on Russian tigers was entered into a statewide primary school writing competition.
The Lang Lang Primary School magazine will also include one of Paris’s stories at the end of this year.
“Most of the time when we do a story, he (Mr Smythe) gives us all the ideas,” she said.
“I try to write what he wants us to write about but sometimes it ends up different.”
She takes inspiration from books and other stories.
Paris also has a keen interest in animals and hopes to become a vet.
At home, she has two birds, a rabbit, a cat and a dog, for which she is responsible.
