THE Maranatha Christian School fete was a huge success last week.
The fete, organised by parents Karen Vanderveen, Lisa Breen, Vicki Wilmott and Melanie Pagano, was attended by many and raised around $3000, which will be put towards new play equipment for the Officer campus.
School receptionist Jennifer Gleeson said everything went really well.
“The weather was beautiful,” Ms Gleeson said.
“We had fantastic support from the general community and the school community.”
The children played on jumping castles and tried their luck in the lucky dip, which contained novelty items such as water guns, slinkies, magic beans, pencils, lollipops and bouncing balls.
There were stalls which sold food, toys, jewellery and plants. Everyone also enjoyed scones, fairy floss and apple juice.
The highlight of the fete was some of the teachers getting ‘sponged’ by students. Principal Vernon Clark and head of campus David Gleeson were among the teachers who copped a dunking.
“It was great fun, I’m just very glad the weather was warm because I got significantly wet,” Mr Gleeson said.
“I happened to be laughing when one of the little kids threw a sponge. It went right in my mouth and I got a mouthful of horrible water. But it’s all part of the fun.”
Mr Gleeson said he was very grateful to the committee of parents for their help.
“A big thank you to the super dedicated mums who did a huge amount of work to make the day fantastic,” Mr Gleeson said.
Mr Gleeson said the school received very positive feedback.
“Many people commented on how great it was and how fantastic the campus looked,” Mr Gleeson said.
“Look out for next year, as we’ve already had requests from people to run stalls.”
