Rotary romance

THERE’S nothing like a whirlwind romance.
And Jim and Viv Armstrong have Pakenham Rotary to thank for theirs.
The two are currently on their honeymoon in Fiji after meeting through Rotary.
“I joined about 12 months ago,” Viv said.
“My previous husband was a Rotarian, and when he died the Rotary Club was so great and supportive, so I started to help out with a few things here and there.
“They are such a great group of people, so soon enough I decided to join.”
Jim, a Rotarian for 20 years, said he and Viv had seen each other around the club and started to work on a few projects together.
“The more we got talking, the more we found we had in common,” Viv said with a smile.
“So we started to have coffee now and then,” Jim said.
“Life’s too short – I suppose it helped that we liked each other too.”
“The great thing is that all of our friends are our friends, so it’s just so easy to get along with everybody,” Viv said.
Two weeks after their romance became “official” Jim and Viv went inside after working together in the garden when Jim just came out and popped the question.
“He said are you ready,” Viv said.
“And I asked what for, and then he said to get married.
“It was a bit of a shock, but we both just knew.”
Trying to find time to schedule an engagement party proved difficult for the busy couple, who instead chose to ditch the party and get straight to the wedding.
Albeit two weeks later.
They shared their nuptials with close family and friends at the Pakenham Golf Club.
