Youngest Lions president

COURTNEY Milner is set to become the youngest Lions Club member to take up the role of president.
The 24-year-old will be officially inducted as president of the Lions Club of Kooweerup on 15 July, and said she was happy to be of service to the club.
“It’s good, it’s a bit of responsibility, but I’ll give it a shot,” she said.
“I enjoy the friendships and doing something for the community. I think becoming the youngest president is a good milestone for the club.”
Ms Milner started out as an entrant in the Lions Club of Kooweerup and District ‘Youth of the Year’ quest in 2003.
At the time, she was still a student at Kooweerup Secondary College and became the club winner, progressing on to other levels of the quest.
She was invited back to be one of three judges in the 2007 and 2008 ‘Youth of the Year’ quests, which left her so impressed she decided to become a member of the club.
In 2009 Ms Milner was inducted as the youngest and newest member of the club.
Current president Daryl Allman said it was fantastic that Ms Milner was elected, and hopes she can take the club in new directions.
“We do need new blood within the club and Courtney is a young person with new ideas, so hopefully it’s better for the club and the community at Kooweerup,” Mr Allman said.
“At the moment she is first vice-president and everybody thought it would be a good idea if we got somebody younger for president. She’s definitely a breath of fresh air.”
