THAT first day of school is an exciting day for many young children, but eight Preps from Beaconsfield Primary School had an extra reason to smile – they walked in the gate with their best friend by their side.
The primary school has four sets of twins in Prep classes this year as well as four sets of twins in Grade 6.
All the twins gathered on the school’s new pirate ship playground on Friday to share what they liked about going through school with their brother or sister.
Prep student James said it was ‘really funny’ having Harry in the same class, but he liked ‘everything’ about having him close by.
Grade 6 student Laura said it had been fun going through primary school with her brother Joshua.
“He’s protective and nice sometimes,” she said.
Samuel said the teacher sometimes got him and his twin brother Owen confused, but he had enjoyed having his brother in the same year level.
“Be nice to each other,” was Samuel’s advice for the new twin Preps.
Principal Gary Methven said he didn’t believe it had happened at the school before.
Mr Methven said twins often had a special bond and the school liked to keep twins together during the early years of schooling before they gain more independence.
“They have their own way of interacting with each other,” he said.
The Preps started the year with two half days on Wednesday and Thursday before their first full day of school on Friday.
