BERWICK Grammar School is hitting sixes with the opening of their new cricket nets.
With the Berwick Grammar School (BGS) Foundation raising $64,000, the school has been able to install three high calibre nets to continue the growing needs of its sport-stars.
Principal Charles Swanepoel said the nets feature as part of the school’s burgeoning sports structure and will continue adding to their sporting facilities in the future.
“We want to hone in on our students’ sporting talents and help develop them with our facilities,” Mr Swanepeol said.
“Being a boys’ school it’s an integral part of the growing of the school – we’re trying to develop the boys’ sport and we’ve got the space to do so.
“Now one thing at a time we’re filling in the gaps to provide great facilities for the Berwick Grammar School.”
Mr Swanepoel wanted to thank the hard work of the BGS Foundation, volunteers and parents to help get the nets up and ready for use – with clubs from local cricket leagues already using the facilities on match days.
Berwick Grammar School and the BGS Foundation are also in the process of launching a project to fund a gymnasium and installing an electronic scoreboard on its main sports field at the Officer-based campus.
