A PAKENHAM South resident fed up with loads of rubbish dumped illegally on his property has installed surveillance cameras to catch the culprits.
The resident, who did not want to be named, lives on McGregor Road and said illegal rubbish dumping had been an ongoing issue for about 10 years.
He suspects many different people are responsible.
In March this year, a load was dumped directly in his driveway so that he was unable to access it. He said the load was so large he needed a tractor to clear it.
Stills of footage captured on 30 March this year show a man and a woman dumping packaging materials, including boxes and foam, at the front of the man’s property.
They are driving a late model blue Subaru, which is towing a dark blue trailer.
Cardinia Shire Council’s compliance services officer John Van Rensch said the council was investigating the case.
Mr Van Rensch said he has been regularly communicating with the resident regarding the investigation’s progress.
“We are seeking information from the public to help us to prosecute the people shown in these photos,” he said.
“Illegal dumping is common in Cardinia Shire. It’s a particularly big problem around Greenhills Road and McGregor Road in Pakenham South.”
Mr Van Rensch urged anyone who had seen the incident to contact the council.
“Dumping is not only selfish, hazardous and looks unsightly – it’s a crime,” he said.
“Council is committed to acting on information from community members to find and prosecute those responsible.”
