IT’S been quite a season for Dandenong Stingrays defender Nathan Foote.
Foote, 18, from Narre Warren, was named Dandenong captain, led his side to the TAC Cup grand final and finished the season on a high-note by claiming the club’s best and fairest at the presentation night on Friday.
Nathan Gardiner claimed the goal-kicking award with 30 goals and Berwick’s Jake Wilson was named the Young Gun Award recipient as the most promising 17-year-old.
A trio of Stingrays – James Harmes, Zak Jones and Billy Hartung – tested at the National Combine last week, with Hartung breaking the beep test record, setting a new mark at 16.6.
Four other Stingrays were tested this week at the State Combine on Saturday – Brady Egan, Dale Gawley, Clay McCartney and Josh Pickess.

Justin Leppitsch Best and Fairest Award – Nathan Foote. Chris Newman Runner Up Best and Fairest – Zak Jones. Adam Ramanauskas Third Best and Fairest – Jack Lonie.
Brendan Fevola Goalkicking Award – Nathan Gardiner. Young Gun Award (Promising 17 Year Old Player) – Jake Wilson.
Most Determined – James Harmes. Most Improved – Jordan Bastinac. Coach’s Award – Kyle Gray. Club Persons Award – Scott Slater. Most Diligent – Joel O’Sullivan.
