IN MARK Pratt’s own words, he wants to kick-start the Biggest Loser in Pakenham so that he’s not the only ’fat guy’ in the gym.
The maintenance manager at Fairhaven Homes was told by his boss to start looking after himself and shed the kilos.
“My boss pushed me and said ’you have to do it for your health’ – he said he didn’t want to be standing there at my funeral,” Mark said.
“I went down to the gym and said I needed a personal trainer – the gym manager took me under his wing.”
Since starting up his health kick, Mark is feeling better and dropping the kilos.
He wants to get in touch with other bigger people in the shire who want to lose weight and his vision is for a weekly, tailored gym class for people of his size.
A picture he posted on his personal Facebook page went viral, encouraging others to join him on his weight loss journey.
With the help of Darren Powell from Voyage Fitness in Pakenham, Mark wants others of his size “north of 150kgs” to get in touch.
“Walking through the gym door, I’m thinking I’m 44, I’m fat, I have a seven-year-old daughter.
“Who knows how long you are going to live when you are fat,” he said.
“But I’m not ashamed of my weight anymore, because I am trying to lose it.”
