HUNDREDS of people from across Melbourne turned out for the fund-raiser event in Pakenham on Sunday to raise money for the ‘Future for Sammy and Victoria’ fund.
Last month, Jade and Stephen Beckett, and their children Ella, 6, and William, 2, died after their car collided with a truck in Catani.
Nine-year-old Sammy survived the horror crash, and his sister Victoria was not in the car at the time.
Family fun day organisers Carol Clifford and Kerri Adkin were moved to tears when they heard about a young boy, the same age as Sam, who donated his birthday money for the cause.
There was a raffle, an auction, games, entertainment, wishing wells and more to raise money for the siblings and help set them up.
“Where do I start – it was just fantastic,” Carol said.
“People came for the same reasons that Kerri and I chose to do this – just to support Sammy and Victoria.”
On the same day, local mum Amanda Egan had her head shaved by hairdresser and salon owner Marie Hansen-Nooy and former Beauty and the Geek contestant Jacelle Kop.
Amanda was thrilled with the support from Pakenham gym Fighting Fit who matched her dollar for dollar.
