Demons in double header

By DAVID NAGEL

THE build up to Casey Cardinia’s big clash against Bellarine at Simonds Stadium Geelong on 24 May has clicked up a gear with senior coach Jock Holland announcing an initial 53-man training squad.
The Demons, ranked 14th for this year’s Worksafe Country Championships, remain undefeated in their two years as a stand-alone league, defeating Nepean in 2012 before winning a classic battle against the Wimmera in Horsham last year.
This year’s outing promises to be something special, with the Demons part of a double-header that will see the neighbouring Peninsula league take on Geelong for the number one ranking in the state. The Casey Cardinia and Peninsula leagues are both run by PCN Sports Alliance, meaning a huge battle will take place between leagues in the south-east and south west of the state.
A massive crowd will be on hand at a magnificent stadium (Simonds Stadium Geelong)… what better stage is there for the league’s finest footballers to showcase their footballing talents.
The squad will train at Beaconsfield’s home ground, Holm Park Road, on Wednesday 7 and 14 May, before two nights of preparation in the week leading into the big game.
Club trainers and volunteers willing to get closely involved with the side should express their interest through PCN Sports Alliance.
