Patron on Yakkerboo’s trail

Andrew McKenzie is the patron for the Yakkerboo Art Show this year.

FOR the first time in its history, the Yakkerboo Art Show committee has appointed a patron for the show.
Andrew McKenzie has judged the show in the past and has a great knowledge and love of art.
The show is on 30 May to 1 June at the Pakenham Hall.
“I have always considered the Yakkerboo Show to be one of the most professionally run shows in Victoria,” he said, “and that the artists and those involved in the arts within Cardinia shire are among the most talented and dedicated I have ever met.
Andrew was recently awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the community of Marysville, to the arts and to the preservation of local history.
He has collected 20,000 items from all over the world to present to the Marysville community.
“What an amazing thing to do,” president of the art show Jillian Ronald said.
“After a fire people think about replacing the items they use day to day.
“To replace the evidence and items of Marysville history gives back to the community a sense of continuity and a strong base from which to move forward.”
Andrew, who is also an authority on the Artists of the Heidelberg School and creator of the Heidelberg School Artists Trail, will attend the opening of the Yakkerboo Art Show and will be guest speaker at an art show luncheon to be held on 18 October at the Pakenham Cultural Centre.
