Tracks of their tears

The Fault in Our Stars
Author: John Green

HEARTSTRINGS were tugged from all angles throughout one of the best and biggest emotional reads of 2014 so far.
The teen romance with a twist follows the life of lung cancer-stricken Hazel Grace as she attempts to deal with the burdens bearing down on her. Hazel describes herself with the one word; terminal. She believes that her life has been written out for her and there’s no way of changing it, just to sit and wait for her impending last day.
Then Augustus Waters appears and is everything a girl could wish for. He himself has been treated for cancer and this becomes one of the many connections the two young teens share. He immediately becomes infatuated with Hazel and a bond grows between them. Despite Hazel’s constant attempts to live each day by herself in order for her looming death to leave those around her unaffected, Gus sticks around.
Once accepting their bond, the two make a million memories during their “forever within the numbered days.”
As the journey continues, you never know if you’ll be closing the book crying for them or smiling with them.
The novel has attracted ridiculous amounts of attention and is majorly responsible for the never-ending stem of inspiring quotes we see on Instagram captions.
The popularity of the novel has gained Green fans across the world and has boosted interest in his other works including Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines and Looking for Alaska.
Following the burst of fame, TFIOS was made into a major motion picture (starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort) and has since left thousands upon thousands of viewers with tear-stained faces and an empty tissue box.
