MANY presidents, volunteers and premierships later the Nar Nar Goon Netball Club will celebrate a milestone of its own this Saturday.
After its inception in 1939, the netball club will celebrate its 75th anniversary this weekend and new and old members are expected to come from far and wide.
An army of volunteers – including current president Sandra Keysers – have worked hard to spread the word about the celebrations this weekend. Netball club members Lisa O’Sullivan, Kerrie Harrop, Genelle Bevan and Debbie Cribbes have been among those to co-ordinate the celebrations.
Netball members, past and present, are invited to watch the A Grade match against Kooweerup on the weekend, before an afternoon tea and official celebration that night.
A commemorative booklet will be launched on the evening, which includes player profiles, a history of the club and pictures from throughout the years.
Sandy said during the process of organising it all, it was remarkable to discover various people’s long associations with the club.
Despite nearly a 30 years association with the netball club, Sandy still considered herself “a relative newcomer”, with the likes of June Reidy who has had a continual involvement for 40 years. Donna Handley can also boast 54 years with the club.
Members of the Nar Nar Goon Netball Club hope for a day filled with new and old faces on Saturday, with plenty of memories shared.
