A celebration of Disney, a tribute to the nineties and an orchestral rendition of Phantom of the Opera songs wowed audiences at the St Margaret’s Annual School Concerts last week.
The music showcase involved 133 students from the school’s various music ensembles and featured vocal, instrumental and dance acts. Piano, trombone, violin, clarinet and vocal soloists were given the opportunity to perform in front of impressed audiences at the Rosanove Auditorium, St Margaret’s School, on the 14th and 15th of August.
The concert finished with a special performance from the St Margaret’s combined choir, with students of all ages filling the stage to sing classic nineties songs accompanied by choreographed dances.
The special effects were also a highlight, with the drum line taking to a dark stage using glowing drumsticks and dramatic stage lighting setting the mood. Dancers wore elaborate costumes from Bollywood to Ballet for the many styles of dance that were featured.
There was a competition held over the two nights for audiences to guess the 2015 school musical, a prize of four VIP tickets to the mystery musical on offer.  St Margaret’s added a second performance to their annual concert in 2009 because of high demand for tickets.
With the concert now over, the students will continue to work hard in preparation for performances scheduled for the remainder of the year.
