DISTRICT artists were proud to take home a range of prestigious awards at the eight-annual Great Art Show at Nossal High School in Berwick last month.
Up for grabs at the region’s biggest art show were a range of contemporary and abstract pieces which all illustrated the creative brilliance of the area’s enthusiastic hobby and professional artists.
Young, inspired artist Roshan Ramesh from Nossal High School won the highly-acclaimed La Trobe Trophy for his piece, Australia Bleeds.
The award was presented by Federal Member for La Trobe Jason Wood MP who commended all participating students for their high level of artistic work.
Sarah Ferrante came in second for the student award with her pencil drawing, titled Ice-cream.
Home renovators kept a keen eye on the show’s creative offerings including Cardinia Shire Councillor Kate Lempriere who took home the show’s first prize sculpture, The Bridge, by Laurie Collins from Jundivick.
Pakenham’s Elena Kolotusha was also pleased to take out the top prize for the best painting, titled Asleep.
Over 500 entries were exhibited at the inaugural three-day exhibition which ran from 19-21 September.
