IT was back to school for the Berwick VIEW Club as they celebrated their 20th anniversary on Monday 15 September.
The strong, all-women group recognised their valuable friendship and fund-raising efforts over the past two decades dressed in the theme of a “School Social”.
Some dressed in tiaras; some donned a tail suit with top hat, but all brought in their milestone birthday in true glamour.
Guest of honour, VIEW Club’s national president Robin Perros commended the group on their valuable contributions to the Smith Family charity, totalling almost $23,000 since they opened their doors in 1994.
Club secretary Rosemary Coleman said the group raised around $1300 last financial year.
“We are a small group of around 15-20 women but we are doing huge things.”
The anniversary event also welcomed back the club’s first president Janet Eaton while Bente Thomson was presented with her 20 year membership badge on the night.
Berwick VIEW Club’s Vynn Wills said the night was not short on laughs.
“A small troupe of women did their truly unique version of Swan Lake.
“They had us all laughing despite or maybe because of the technical limits. We shared many laughs and can only say…ballet talent, nor youth, were prerequisites,” she said.
Held at the Central Hotel in Beaconsfield, the women were joined by local VIEW clubs including Cranbourne who won the night’s raffle.
Currently, the Berwick VIEW Club is using their fund-raising money to sponsor three underprivileged youths in the education sector through the Learning for Life program.
