NURSING home residents in Berwick donned their leathers when they rode a Harley Davidson as part of birthday celebrations on the weekend.
Fiddlers Green Nursing Home celebrated its 30th anniversary on Saturday with an array of activities including a Devonshire Tea, sausage sizzle, animal farm, a roving jazz band, a bowls club tournament, face painting and Harley Davidson rides.
Assistant village manager Nicole Whiting said everyone was still raving about the event on Monday.
“It was such a great day,” she said.
“All the residents loved the Harley rides around the block, given by the manager Lauren Simpson’s husband Ash … they were all ticking it off their bucket lists.”
About 20 people were at the event, including residents, staff, family and friends. Also in attendance was the longest serving staff member Annette Berrand who will have been working in administration for 30 years next January. Anna Sabatino, who has been a resident at the home for 30 years, cut the birthday cake.
“I think we have so many long serving staff and residents because Fiddlers Green is a great place to live and work,” Ms Whiting said.
“The staff really get involved with the residents.”
Ms Whiting said staff and residents are now looking forward to their annual fete, which will be held on 15 November and is open to the public.
