CASEY and Cardinia Probus Club members who met for their inaugural lunch last week celebrated in style, decorating themselves and their tables in a country theme.
The Bush Lunch was enjoyed by over 140 members from Pakenham, Berwick, Beaconsfield Casey and Narre Warren who could be seen wearing gumnut hats, akubras, red and white check shirts and Aussie flags.
President of the Casey-Cardinia Probus groups Ron Metz said the event on Wednesday 29 October at Akoonah Park in Berwick was a big success, but members needed to start attending the monthly cluster meetings if they want the good times to keep rolling.
“Events like these just won’t keep happening without club support,” he said.
The clubs, which offers fun and fellowship to Australian seniors, have been a godsend for a Berwick Village member who lost her husband five years ago.
“I didn’t think I would be terribly interested in a group like this before but when I joined (my friend) gave me a job which I really enjoyed and it brought something out of me which I had almost forgotten,” Lynne MacDonald said.
The Probus clubs meet regularly for a range of different activities including dinners, movie outings, walks, guest presentations and more.
New members are welcome.
