A PAKENHAM man in his sixties died after suffering a suspected heart attack which caused him to crash his car along John Street in Pakenham.
Police believe the man lost control of his silver Holden Commodore and crashed into a parked Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 after suffering from the heart condition as he drove along the residential street towards the Princes Highway at about 10am on Tuesday 6 January.
Pakenham paramedic Simon Thompson said emergency crews, including an air ambulance, worked on the man for more than an hour but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cardinia Highway Patrol Sergeant Allen Inderwisch said the fatality was still under investigation.
“We believe the crash was the result of a heart attack,” he said.
“We believe it may have caused him to veer off the road and crash into the parked car.”
Cars were blocked from entering John Street until about 12.30pm.
Witnesses with information about the incident have been asked to call Senior Constable Hughes from Casey Highway Patrol on 5991 0600 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
