Big hitters lash out

WDCA – Round 11 (day one)

BULN BULN and Hallora made mincemeat of Ellinbank and Bunyip respectively as the runs piled up in WDCA’s top grade.
Bunyip had nothing to stop the might of Hallora (7/326), led by centurion Brett Williams (102). Williams and captain Fraser Duncan (81) added 136 for the fourth wicket to put the match squarely in Hallora’s pocket. Tyler McMillan (4/92) was the best of the Bunyip bowling brigade.
Ellinbank was left to watch the carnage as Buln Buln (9/332) ran up the scoreboard. Half-tons to Nick Powell (72), captain Corey Jagoe (53) and a boundary-laden 67 not out from Jeff Walsh left the visitors in true strife come next week. Tim Brown (5/86) bowled admirably in the dire conditions.
Some late order tail-wagging gave Drouin (142) a defendable target against Western Park (1/6). Nothing better than 20s defined the home side’s effort as Ishan Ratnayake (23 not out) held on grimly to ensure Drouin had the runs on the board before Dale Weller (1/1) ferried off Jay Engellenner (0) late in the day.
Neerim District (207) piled on the runs with a captain’s knock from Jackson Ward (69) making next week a hazardous equation for Yarragon.
Division 2 was led by Paul Timewell (144), the Drouin (213) captain who was the living embodiment of his name as he timed everything exceptionally well en route to a match-defining century against Iona (0/18), Garfield-Tynong (8/202) set a strong tally for Longwarry to hunt down, Hallora (9/114dec) folded under pressure from Western Park (0/1), Jindivick (218) made a mighty tally against Warragul.
In Division 3 results: Jindivick (60 and 2/15) was routed by Bunyip (9/130dec), Neerim District (153) is well placed against Buln Buln, Drouin (8/129) has its work cut out in the field next week against Western Park and Yarragon (110) is under the pump against Ellinbank (2/82).
