Scores test the friendships

PAKENHAM Golf Club hosted its first 4BBB-stableford competition for the year on Saturday where only the best of friends were guaranteed to still be talking to each other by the end of the round.
Winners with 46 points were Rob Christie (16) and Kevin Wraight (28) who scored on a countback from David Leek (22) and Noel Bonne (15). Third place went to Bob Collins (20) and Rod Walker (19), who were just a shot off the pace with 45 points.
Down the lines went to the pairings of Peter Diss-Martyn Farrands (45), Tom Cassidy-Ray Leonard (45), Wayne Knudsen-Michael Minogue (44), Patrick Farrell-John Piggott (44), Peter Norman-Leigh Burton (44), Bruce and Karl Wemyss (43), Grant McCullough-John Parker (43) and Kevin McCrae-Steven Smith (43).
Nearest the pins went to Leigh Burton (2nd), Bruce Wemyss (5th), Ron Horne (8th), Rod Walker (14th) and John Pattinson (16th).
WEDNESDAY
The A Grade winner of the stableford competition with 42 points was Mal Davey (12) from runner-up Darren Grayson (12) on 36 points.
Bob Naismith (16) took B Grade with 40 points from the unlucky Peter Dempster (18), who also shot 40 points but was beaten on a countback.
Keith Rice (33) was a one-stroke winner in C Grade, his 41 points just enough to hold off Warwick Cakebread (28) on 40 points.
Down the lines went to Stewart McDonald, Bryan Delaney and Brian Carvell on 39 points; Colin Maclean, Barry McDonald and Glenn Charles on 37 points; and John Roberts, Chris Dalton and Ronald Zomer on 36 points. Nearest the pins went to Trevor Knaggs (2nd) and Darren Grayson (16th), while the Supercomp back-nine winner was Stewart McDonald with 23 points. Chris Clark won the club logo shirt with his shot to just 77 centimetres on the eighth.
WEDNESDAY TWILIGHT
Ray Leonard (20) continued his fine form with 19 points to win the twilight competition with Barry Atkins, Ken Mooney and Shirley McGrath all getting a prize on 18 points.
FRIDAY
John Roberts (14) had a day out on Friday shooting 42 points to win easily from Mark Klaver (13) on 36. Down the lines went to Mervyn Owen on 36 with Bernie Gramc and Jim Byrne scraping in with 35 points.
SUNDAY
Rod Ritchie (22) scooped the pool on Sunday winning with 40 points from Timothy Sallai (15) on 38. Down the line winners were Christopher Pitts (37), John Rawiri and Craig Hunter on 35, Matt Yusof on 33 and Nick Gray and Gary Bennett with 32.
