Cameron finds extra gear in Edmonds Carr

CARDINAI WATERS BOWLS

IT WAS a 50/50 result for Cardinia Waters bowlers last week with a win and a loss on both Tuesday and Saturday.
The win on Tuesday was in the midweek Division 2, playing at home to Berwick the side were 64/54 winners. The big winner was Lindsay Cameron skipping for John Carr, Noel Edmonds and Jenny Edmonds. They came from behind – down 0/5 – finding an extra gear and scored 29 shots to Berwicks five for a 29 to 10 win.
The other winner was skipper Bryan Stevens with Bill Tippelt, Mick Knight and Stuart Tokely. They were also down early, 2/11 on the sixth end. It became a tactical battle between the two experienced skippers with the home team fighting back to grab the lead on the 19th end for a 21/20 win.
Cliff Heath skipping for Gunter Baumbach, Dennis Patmore and Doug Eastick, lost a five on the first end, got back in front but couldn’t carry on losing 14/24.
MIDWEEK
THE Division-1 side went to Narre Warren and lost all three rinks in a 34/77 loss. John Van Vugt with Sandra Wilde, Pat Hutchinson and Wendy Titcombe were in front at the lunch break but won only two more ends to lose 15/21.
Skipper Jim Smith with Val Moore, John Hutchinson and David Smith were well in the game at the break but also faded in the run home to lose 12/27.
David Blake skipping for Simon Koning, Graeme Taylor and Lynn Cameron, won their first end but managed only three more to go down 7/29.
SATURDAY
THE Division 8 side were the winners at home to Clayton, storming home for a percentage boosting 60/24 win.
Stuart Tokely with Bill Tippelt, John Cazaly and Jim Boucher led from the second end and dominated all day to win 33/9.
Dennis Smith skipped for Jim McCallum, Tom Davie and John Carr had a tight game up until the 17th end when they were 11/15 down. Then it was game over with scores of one, six, seven and two over the last four ends for a 27/15 win.
The Division 3 side went to Narre Warren and won only one rink in a 69/88 loss.
The winner team was Jim Smith skipping for Mick Knight, Simon Koning and Len Judge. They were close at the half way mark but managed to win eight of the last 11 ends, including a five on the 20th, to take the win 24/16.
David Blake with Donny Gibson, Graeme Taylor and Bill Hite had a tight game, nine-all on the 12th end and 13-all on the 17th but lost the final four to lose 13/18.
Lindsay Cameron skipping for Val Moore, John Hutchinson and Lynn Cameron, won their first end and were close at 16/19 on the 18th but lost the last three to lose 16/23.
Skipper John Van Vugt with Gunter Baumbach, Pat Hutchinson and Wendy Titcombe never recovered from being down 11/0 after four ends, they battled hard but ended their day 16/31 losers.
