Jetts set golf day

By RUSSELL BENNETT

JETTS Pakenham will host a charity golf day at the Pakenham Golf Club on Sunday, 1 March.
The event, which is open to all ages, will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Running from 8.30am to 1.30pm, a $35 ticket will include 18 holes of golf, barbecue lunch, entry into the closest to the pin competition and the 19th hole function, along with the opportunity to win a range of prizes.
Jetts, the major sponsor of the Pakenham Silverbacks, is looking for a sponsor for each of the 18 holes for the day.
Last year, in the lead-in to the Mothers Day Classic, Jetts club manager Michael Godfrey took part in a 24-hour treadmill challenge in which he tore the medial ligament in his knee. He was on the treadmill for the full 24 hours but this time around he’s hoping for a slightly more pain-free experience.
This is the first golf day that Jetts is running for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with a different type of charity event to be held each year.
Godfrey said the club was aiming to get 100 people involved, with more than 50 already set to take part.
The Pakenham Silverbacks will have a presence on the day.
