IN ITS fourth year the Rowan Membrey Truck Pull, in support of beyondblue is looking for participants to join in and help raise awareness of suicide in the community.
In 2011 Craig Membrey, owner of Membrey Transport and Crane Hire lost his son Rowan to suicide.
“Suicide is a major issue everywhere and is 100 per cent preventable – I say to people there is help out there, you just have to ask for it,” Craig said.
Craig’s T904 truck is customised in honour of Rowan with number plates, ‘4 Rowan’.
The truck pull will be taking place at 4pm on Saturday 21 February at the Berwick Show.
Teams of 10 will pull the 11-tonne truck 30 metres, taking about 15 to 20 seconds from start to finish.
Trophies are awarded to the teams that come in first, second and third and have been on display at the National Australia Bank in Berwick for the past two weeks.
“We would love more teams,” Craig said.
“To lose my boy was a big wake-up – I decided to turn a bad thing into a good thing,” he said.
There will be information on offer from beyondblue on the day and three new trophies donated by the National Australia Bank.
