FOUR pairs of feet “ran up with an extreme burst of excitement” during a Berwick primary school’s captain naming assembly.
Berwick Lodge Primary School have welcomed new school captains Kyle and Shinae along with vice-captains Lincoln and Elma to lead the school with success this year.
The Year 6 students each described their newly announced leadership roles as a privilege and committed themselves to putting in their all for the school year.
Eleven-year-old Elma said it had been a busy but fun start to the year.
“We have had the opportunity to go on the radio. Soon we will get to go to the City of Casey (offices) and we will get to go to the city for National Young Leaders Day,” she said.
Fellow vice-captain Lincoln, 12, said the most exciting opportunities were to come – particularly the centenary Anzac dawn service.
“I will put all of my effort into working hard and being kind,” he said.
The students were selected at a school assembly in December last year.
Being picked was an amazing feeling according to Lincoln.
“We were extremely nervous and speechless at the time, especially for the year looming ahead of us,” he said.
In the previous school year, the students who were then in Grade 5 focused on leadership building skills such as writing speeches.
