A PAKENHAM cat that took its own selfie is taking social media by storm.
Hugo, the spritely one-year-old cat, managed to take five separate pictures of himself with his owner’s camera – which has caused a stir on the internet.
“We are still surprised he managed to do that,” his owner Lisa Pretty said.
“My husband put his phone down to go somewhere. Somehow Hugo has managed to get the camera app open and take photos of himself. He took four or five.”
Lisa and her partner Stephen Pretty got Hugo from the Pakenham Greencross Vets.
The cat, which is quickly gaining followers on his Facebook page ‘The Antics of Hugo’ shares his Pakenham owners with three other pets, a cat and two Labradors.
Lisa said, for the most part, they all get along well together.
“Hugo loves to hang off the dogs’ tails as they walk around the kitchen. It’s a love-hate relationship between Hugo and the older cat. The older cat will play for five minutes but Hugo will want to play forever.”
Hugo doesn’t mind his own reflection.
“He loves looking at himself in the mirror. And he’s very friendly. If anyone comes in to the house, they have to be prepared for Hugo to go through their handbag when they get there,” Lisa said.
“He’s very entertaining.”
Lisa said he is one of a very few cats who will play fetch.
“His favourite game is fetch. You can throw a toy and he will bring it back. He’s very obedient.”
The Facebook page was only started last month but has attracted well over 100 followers who love to check in on Hugo’s latest humorous antics.
