HALF buried bones suspected as being human were recently discovered at a Pakenham fast food restaurant, sparking large scale forensic investigation by police.
A staff member from McDonald’s on Princes Highway was doing a routine clean at 5pm on Saturday 21 March when they came across a plastic bag of partially decomposed bones in one of the restaurant garden beds.
Senior Sergeant Nathan Prowd from Pakenham Police said there was a “concern the bones were human” which instigated an investigation by police who cordoned the area off for a number of hours.
Police crime scene investigators and the homicide squad were involved in the investigation which found the bones were non-human.
“The bones were photographed and tested by forensic pathologists,” Sen Sgt Prowd said.
The bones were found in a garden bed south of the McDonald’s drive through, according to police.
