What an opening

ON THURSDAY 26 March, the Pakenham Racing Club opened the gates of racing.com park to showcase its product to the racing world.
First-class amenities designed for the comfort of everyone, excellent food and a view of the course which emphasised the thought that had gone into the creation of this great complex.
One suspects that any birthing pains will be swiftly dealt with.
A magnificent racing surface of mammoth width, glorious sweeping turns and finally a straight – a veritable Everest of 400 metres plus rising without respite or mercy to a piece of wood we call the post. This is no place for the faint-hearted nor room for excuses.
It is a course for all ages. Great horses will come because great trainers will bring them, great riders will ride them and the people will come to see them.
The Pakenham Racing Club and its committee are to be congratulated on its vision and achievement. It has indeed grasped the nettle.
