NBN disconnect

By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM

THE information age doesn’t seem to have reached the NBN Co, which had some communication issues, answering questions this week about the rollout of the network.
NBN information via a Russell Broadbend media release stated that 16,600 premises in Officer and Pakenham are to receive access to the NBN. However, the NBN Co media team later clarified the information, to say that the rollout would actually be to Upper Beaconsfield properties. In a media release it states that “12,000 homes and businesses in the Beconsfield Upper area“ are set to receive the NBN, with a spokesperson further clarifying that an additional 4600 properties are to receive NBN.
As with everything NBN related, nothing seems to be set in stone.
They did agree on some things: neither the Member for McMillan’s office nor the NBN Co were able to give any indication on when the work would be completed.
One thing is for certain: Pakenham, Officer or Upper Beaconsfield residents shouldn’t expect the NBN to be connected anytime soon.
