A SIGNALLING fault in Pakenham sent this morning’s traffic into mayhem as cars banked up behind jammed Racecourse Road boom gates.
It was reported the boom gates were set to be down until lunchtime as emergency track replacement works sought to raise the faulty gates.
The gates, however, were lifted before 9am and traffic has resumed as normal.
The signalling fault created major delays for trains travelling in both directions on the Cranbourne and Pakenham line.
VicRoads said the signalling fault happened at about 5.52am this morning.
