EVERY cup will count when the Waterhouse family hosts morning tea later this month.

As part of ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’, Meryl Waterhouse is organising a two-day event to benefit The Cancer Council.
Her son, former CFA captain Brad Waterhouse, is battling stage four Cancer.
“What we’ve realised since we’ve gotten sick is that almost every family is touched by Cancer,” Meryl said.
“Because of Brad’s illness we decided we should do something, and this seems like a great way to get together and raise funds.”
The Waterhouse’s morning tea will be one of several held around Australia throughout May and June. Funds raised through the events help the Cancer Council fund work in cancer research, prevention and support services.
Last year, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea rasied over $11.9 million, and this year the goal is $13 million. While they have no specific target, the Waterhouse family hopes to raise as much as possible for the cause.
“It will just be a great event for people to come together, catch up and have something to eat for an important cause,” Meryl said.
The family is hopeful Brad will be well enough to attend the weekend.
More than 10 people from the Maryknoll community recently shaved their heads in a show of support.
The Waterhouse Family’s morning tea will be held on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 May from 10.00am-4.00pm at 315 Pakenham Road, Pakenham. Morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch will be served for $5 per person.
