NEIGHBOURS who heard a loud bang in the early hours of the morning rushed out to help what they thought may have been victims of a car crash – only to find a car engulfed in flames.
About 4am on Wednesday 13 May, a Mitsubishi Magna that police believe was stolen was found dumped and alight along Mount Road, in Longwarry North.
Warragul police Sergeant Dean Waddell said the car was registered in South Australia.
“Neighbours heard a long bang outside and thought there was a crash. They went outside to find the car on fire,” he said.
Sgt Waddell said no-one was found at the scene.
CFA members worked to extinguish the flames but the car was completely destroyed.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
